A colossal crocodile has been filmed staring down a deadly shark that is barely half its size in an astonishing video – taken chillingly close to where children were playing.
The once-in-a-lifetime encounter was taken on Chelsea Wood and partner Bryce Connole’s drone camera near the Ivanhoe Crossing bridge in Kununurra, Western Australia.
It shows a bull shark swimming in the shallows directly towards a massive saltwater croc.
The apex predator appears not to notice the reptile until it is just feet away.
Wisely, the shark then changes its course and moves away. The croc floats motionless as its smaller predator flees.
And it wasn’t just the two apex predators in the water at the time.
“There were a lot of people fishing and children splashing around in the water — people were oblivious,” Chelsea told NCA NewsWire.
“We had been out fishing in knee-deep water, metres from where we (later) saw the croc.
“We were just copying the locals.”
